Phnom Penh, Cambodia — Cambodia is preparing to host
the 20th Francophonie Summit from November 15–16, marking only the second time
this high-profile gathering of French-speaking nations will take place in
Southeast Asia.
The event coincides with an official state visit by French
President His Excellency Emmanuel Macron, who confirmed his travel plans during
a previous meeting with Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet. This marks the
first time a French head of state has visited the Kingdom since 1993.
According to His Excellency French Ambassador Olivier
Richard, the historic summit and presidential visit signal a new phase in
bilateral ties. The two nations plan to deepen their 30-year partnership by
expanding cooperation into future-oriented sectors such as artificial intelligence,
biotechnology, and aerospace.
